THE COMPETITION IS BACK FOR 2026!
SUBMISSION DEADLINE AUGUST 31st!
For any inquiries about the competition, shoot us a DM @torontosketchcomedy on Instagram.
HOW IT WORKS!
Enter a comedic short under 7min. The community votes on their favourite films. The top ten entries are then considered for the first place grand prize determined by our judges. We host a screening and awards show and celebrate some great sketch comedy.
THE MORE ENTRIES THE BIGGER THE PRIZE POOL
80% of your submission fee makes up the prize money.
20% goes toward running the event.
The bigger the community, the bigger the prize pool. Last years 1st place winner took home $440!
This means every submission directly grows the prize money—and the competition itself. Prize money categories include:
1st Place
2nd Place
3rd Place
Most Likes
Best Performance
Best Reel (You can also submit a vertical video under 70sec. We screen them all at the award show and the audience votes their favourite. Submissions due Sept 28th)
FAQs
How do you get into the top ten?
At the end of the voting period, the total number of “likes” on the TSC YouTube page will determine which sketches are eligible to win the prize money. Our panel of judges also has the power to bring up one sketch each from outside of the top ten. All videos will be added after the August 31st deadline.
Can I submit a Sketch Film & Reel?
Please, we hope you do! Deadline for Films (horizontal under 7min) is August 31st and the deadline for Reels (vertical under 70sec) is Sept 28th.
Can I submit multiple videos?
No! But we will accept any other video under a different name with a different group of people.
Where is the live screening?
October 4th, we will host a live screening at Rivoli in the backroom. There will be a live performance, the audience will vote on best reel, and we will give away the rest of the awards including the grand prize for 1st place (45% of the total pot!)
Who are the judges?
Thank you so much for reading this far, we have yet to fill out our full panel of judges, but so far we are so excited to have: Brandon Hacket, Mona Hersi, Jan Caruana, House of Cool, and Peter Hill.
What if I don’t want to upload my sketch to the TSC community page?
All sketches must be uploaded to be considered for the top ten. We would love to have your work in our massive archive of Canadian created sketch. The TSC community YouTube page is a Not-for-profit page, if there was any proceeds, they would go back to the creator and next years competition prize money. If you wish to remove your video just let us know though IG or shoot us an email at info@torontosketchcomedy.com.
The Toronto Sketch Comedy Film Competition was created by people who love filmed sketch comedy and volunteer their time to bring a friendly competition where up and coming sketch comedians can pool their money and have industry professionals dish it back out! We thank all those who have supported this event and are so excited to see you at the next one.
